Greenbrier County Schools is partnering with United Way of Central WV to offer the Foster Grandparents program in our school system. If you’re interested in mentoring and tutoring children, look no further. Serve as an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer in our Foster Grandparent program and strive towards healthy futures and success. Greenbrier County Schools will operate on a three-hour delay schedule on Monday, January 8.


After 3rd graders learned about patterns in forces we made twirly birds to discuss the forces of gravity and friction. The students all made a standard twirly bird and then got to be creative to redesign a second to see if they could get it to spin faster to the ground.





​Planning is underway for the 2024-2025 school calendar! We invite parents, students, staff, and community members to complete a brief online school calendar survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K8NC79M. The survey closes on Friday, January 19. Calendar options and a planning guide are available at https://www.greenbriercountyschools.org/page/school-calendar-planning. GCS will host a public forum regarding the calendar on February 13 at 5:30 p.m. and March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kyle & Ann Fort Arts & Sciences Building on the New River CTC campus. The 2023-2024 school calendar will be presented for approval at the regular meeting of the board of education on March 12.


The students in speech love using various objects to identify beginning letters and sounds and work on verbal sound production and vocabulary.

Greenbrier County Schools reminds families that students will be released from school two hours early on Thursday, December 21, to allow for required faculty senates. We wish you a very merry holiday break that begins on Friday, December 22nd, and runs through Monday, January 1st. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, January 2nd.

WVU Extension Agent, Robin Haynes, helped the after school students use supplies to make cars. The students then used balloons and their air to power the cars.
